Katie & Rob decided to Elope while cycle touring around New Zealand and I was the lucky guy they chose to be their photographer! Katie & Rob represent pretty much my dream couple – they are super relaxed, outdoorsy /active people who wanted an Elopement that was simple, relaxed and fun.
I went out on limb by suggesting they get married on the often super windy Remarkables Lookout high up on the Remarkables Ski Area Access Road. This spot offers epic panoramas of Lake Wakatipu, Queenstown and the surrounding mountains but is exposed and is often too windy to shoot.
On the morning of Katie & Rob’s Elopement, the weather was pretty calm and I took a chance and recommended we go for it. When we got up there however, wind conditions could best be described as a “gentle gale” (if there is such thing”!). However, I found us a tiny wee spot sheltered from the wind and just big enough for all of us to squeeze into and the ceremony was calm, beautiful and not at all windswept!
Anyhoo, enough rambling from me, I’ll let the pictures do the rest of the talking for me….
